Tutorial Review
I am very pleased with how my portfolio in photography id developing and adapting. I am continuously establishing my ideas and creative thought processes, which is helping me create images that keep improving every time, that I am generally extremely pleased with. Due to the fact I run my own photography business at home, I am always on top of all the technical and practical side of photography and film making because that is my job, however to improve I find that my analysis of the images I produced could be developed on, which would enable myself to reach the A* grade within my work. As a whole within the analysis, it needs to be generally more detailed and thorough, explaining and reviewing all the aspects within the image, in greater depth, with strong links to my choice of critical studies that I can refer back to, stating how I can influence the photographers images into my style to help me develop my skills as a photographer.
I also need to ensure that I include contact sheets in every shoot that I conduct alongside the final 3 images, but also analyse what didn't go well with the images located in the contact sheet, that I did not choose to include in the final image section. This would enable my work to appear more detailed, allowing me to reach those higher grades.
For my main A2 project I have decided I will be producing images under the theme of 'ADVENTURE' I chose this theme because this is the style of photography I conduct in my business, meaning I already have contacts in the outdoor sporting world, which will enable me to conduct some extremely high end shoots and interesting content. In my Adventure theme, I will producing images of extreme sports, lifestyle and landscapes. This will allow me to produce multiple styles of images in several locations in the outdoors. I have been producing images of extreme sports throughout my figure project, however I am going to change the style in my main A-Level project. I am going to approach the project with a new mind set, which will be to influence lifestyle as a bigger part of my production of the images, I want to produce less cropped images of extreme sports, so I can include the landscape as a bigger section of the image. This will express the relationship between the human and the land, creating a hugely strong link to my theme (Adventure), the photographer I will be taking most influences from for this particular style of imagery will be Chris Burkard.
I believe Adventure is the best possible choice of theme for me, due to the fact I have a huge passion for travelling, and adventure is a huge part of this, the sense of exploring new areas and locations...taking a step into the unknown. Adventure has been something that has evolved since humans existed and now due to technology we are able to capture fleeting moments and hold onto them digitally or on print, which I think is fascinating. This lead me to influence a certain feeling into my images. This is, that I would like to produce powerful images that make the viewers feel as if they are there, where the camera was positioned, particularly in my landscape images that are produced.
