Timothy Bailey - http://www.timothybaileyphotography.com/
Timothy Bailey is a commercial photographer who specialises in humour. I thought humour would be an effective expression and vibe to include in my project workflow, which is why I chose Bailey as a critical study.
Although Bailey produces joke-like images, his work is still extremely serious and complex. The top class lighting equipment and techniques Bailey uses is very hard to accomplish within an image, which is one of the main reasons I took a very deep interest in Baileys workflow,

This image is one of Bailey's that I admire the most. The way artificial lighting is mixed with natural enhanced lighting is very cleverly executed. With a main focal point of a complete joke stereotype also creates more interest in the image, due to the humour. This something I really want to influence into my final image, as my main subject will be positioned somewhat like this model in the image (above) so I can take some ideas on lighting techniques from examining the image. What I can notice is there is a lot of flash but not much power, so it looks relatively natural in the frame.
Here in this image, there isn't much more to it than humour and lighting. I also believe props are a big deal of Baileys work and so is make up and artistic styling, to help the make the image look as high quality as possible.
What I like in this image is that the main subject is positioned right in the centre of the frame, which is not seen as being interesting enough for the viewer due to the fact it is not following the rule of 'The Rule Of Thirds' however these rules can be broken in photography to create a unique masterpiece as not many people use the centre of the frame apart from amateurs, so professionals can create a different more unique image by using this area in particular.
I also like the fact that the main subject (model) has been made an even larger interest for the viewer by the use of a background light, which is positioned behind the model, flashing on the background, I would estimate with a 1/4 honeycomb grid which will tighten up the beam of light released by the strobe, which will create a compact glow around the main subject. This increases the interest and highlights the main focal point - leading the audiences eyes towards it.
