Keith Ladzinski - http://www.ladzinski.com/
My main critical studies inspiration came from an adventure photographer named Keith Ladzinski, he had produced many portraits none of which represented Man VS Machine in a strong independent way but they did include scenes, actions and expressions that I could use within my project.
Workflow
This image is the one that gave me the most inspiration as it shows an essence of conflict between Man and the Machine (hose system) this produces very compelling images due to the facial expressions being so dominant and exaggerated this creates a sense of humour within the image.
An image such as this would have to be created in a dark situation, this is largely due to the fact the water would not be visible in bright daylight. A dark background would also boost the contrast of the spray and model. Strobes are used within this image to freeze movement of the water, this helps express what is actually happening in the frame.
This image has been framed very tightly around the model, which is only focusing on the end part of the water spray ricocheting of the models hand, this is the most interesting area of the water spray so by only including this in the right side of the frame means more attention will be accumulated.

This image of Ladzinski's was also an inspiration and gave me a few ideas. Although it doesn't relate to Man vs Machine, it does show conflict between a man and a living creature, in this case a spider crab.
The main action in this image is the human holding something away from them with both hands. I thought I could influence this action into an image of my own, using some sort of machine such as a blender, facing the model, expressing a fighting scene with both man and machine.
I think in terms of an angle for this image I would a slightly more side on view to show the front of the machine but also the upper body of the model.
